American laglag bala ‘victim’ flying out of PHL on Monday night
The American who supposedly fell victim to the laglag bala extortion racket at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport recently is finally going home to the United States on Monday night, according to Julius Segovia's report on Quick Response Team.
Lane Michael White, who was acquitted of an illegal possession of ammunition charge last week, admitted that he was anxious to return to the country after what happened to him and his family.
"It is a little bit uneasy but I mean I have faith that this scam is going to stop," White said.
White was arrested at the NAIA on September 17 after airport personnel found a live bullet in his luggage. He was about to go to Coron, Palawan, with his father Ryan, a Christian missionary, and stepmother Eloisa Zoleta.
Before flying out of the country, White and his family joined the Volunteers Against Crime and Corruption (VACC) in recognizing the agents of the National Bureau of Investigation that investigated the alleged "laglag bala" scam.
VACC founding chairman Dante Jimenez stressed that the group will not stop until the authorities say that a syndicate was behind the scheme.
"Kami sa VACC, hindi naniniwala na walang sindikato diyan. Ang sindikato po kung ide-define natin, ito po ay mga nabuo na at malalaman natin iyan sinu-sino ang madalas manghuli diyan, sino po ang linya diyan. Iyan ang sindikato. So we will establish that," he said. —Trisha Macas/NB, GMA News
