Girl falls from Ermita condo roofdeck after taking selfie

A third year mass communication student fell to her death from a building's roofdeck in Ermita, Manila after taking selfies with her friend on Tuesday night.

Senior Inspector Rommel Anicete, homicide division chief of the Manila Police District, identified the victim as 19-year-old Kristina Marie Pagalilauan.

Pagalilauan died on the spot after falling from the roofdeck of Dahlia Tower of Suntrust Parkview Condominium.

A report on News To Go said Pagalilauan went to the condominium building to have her hair colored by her friend.

The condominium unit is owned by Pagalilauan's boyfriend, who was out of town.

After having her hair colored, the two girls went up the roofdeck and took some selfies.

Anicete said Pagalilauan sat on the roofdeck's wall while her friend was scanning their first selfies on the phone.

When Pagalilauan's friend looked up, the victim had fallen from the wall.

Anicete said that Pagalilauan was able to cling to the window moulding on the 20th floor, but eventually fell.

He said they saw no foul play in the incident, but further investigations would be conducted to determine if possible liability of the condominium building's owner.

"Itong wall na ito is napakababa," he said, adding that the wall should at least have railings.

The police officer added that the portion of the wall from where the victim fell was uneven. —ALG/TJD, GMA News
