3 QC markets ordered shut down over alleged violations
Three prominent Quezon City wet markets have been ordered to stop operations on Tuesday for allegedly failing to comply with various health and building codes.
Subject of a cease-and-desist order issued by the Market Development and Administration Department of Quezon City were Balintawak Cloverleaf Market, Riverview II Market, and MC Market, according to a dzBB report by Allan Gatus.

— Allan Gatus (@allangatus) January 19, 2016All three markets supposedly had no building or sanitary permits, failed to create a sewage treatment plant, segregate waste, and enforce a cleaning code for their tenants.
A report by Bernadette Reyes on Balitanghali said the markets also didn't have a discharge permit from the Laguna Lake Development Authority.
The Market Development and Administration Department believes the infractions endangered the health of consumers and caused pollution in adjacent areas.
Market Administrator Noel Soliven advised market owners to appeal their cases to continue their operations.
Balintawak Cloverleaf Market owner Rodolfo De Guzman, Riverview II Market operator Leonardo Paulino, and MC Market proprietor Ma. Consolacion Lazaro were given 48 hours to respond to the orders.
The three markets allegedly violated Presidential Decree (P.D.) 1096 or the National Building Code of the Philippines, P.D. 856 or Code on Sanitation of the Philippines, P.D. 1586 or establishing an environmental impact statement system, and various Quezon City ordinances.
Riverview II Market and MC Market also allegedly violated QC Ordinance No. SP-1804 S-2007 or "an ordinance prohibiting all food establishments and restaurants in dumping grease, fat lards, and oil residue in drainage sewers, canals, creeks, and other local tributaries." —Rie Takumi/KBK, GMA News
