Dutch fugitive wanted for manslaughter arrested in PHL
A Dutch fugitive who has been hiding in the country for almost two years was arrested Wednesday by Bureau of Immigration personnel with the help of police from the Netherlands.
An exclusive report by John Consulta on "24 Oras" said Corinth Peters, 45, is wanted in the Netherlands for carnapping, kidnapping and manslaughter.
The report said Peters has been staying in the Philippines since 2014 after he escaped from his country.
It said the Immigration Bureau was able to track down Peters' location with the help of tips from concerned citizens. It said the suspect has been posing as a tourist while in the country.
"It's important to deport these undesirable aliens right away so they can face the legal processes for the crimes they committed," said BI spokesperson Nikki Reyes in the report.
During his arrest, Peters threatened to destroy his passport in front of the police. He refused to give comments to the media. —Jessica Bartolome/KBK, GMA News
