Maynilad cuts water supply in Sta. Mesa, Manila due to busted pipe

Maynilad Water Services Inc. has cut the water supply in Sta. Mesa, Manila on Thursday by closing more valves to prevent further flooding in the area because of a busted pipe.

In the process an unknown number of households are without water.

Residents of Sampaloc, particularly in Barangay 582 to 586, have no water.
The service will resume after the problem has been resolved.

Maynilad spokesperson Grace Laxa on Thursday said more areas will be affected by the water interruption as they close more valves.

In a report, GMA News' Mark Salazar said the flooding has subsided in the area.

In a separate text message to DZBB Super Radyo, Maynilad said that repairs started at 9 p.m. Wednesday, but more water from an unknown source kept flowing out from the streets.

The water pipe has been closed and the water utility's contractors are working on isolating the problem. Water services are currently interrupted for residents in Sampaloc, particularly those in Barangay 582 to 586, and will resume after the issue has been resolved.

Maynilad spokesperson Grace Laxa said that more areas will be affected by the water interruption as they close more valves.

The flooding lasted for 10 hours and Maynilad apologized for the inconvenience it might have caused consumers and the public at large. Aya Tantiangco/VS/KG, GMA News
