LTFRB to probe viral video of counter-flowing jeepney
The Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) is set to investigate the viral video of a counter-flowing jeepney and will summon the driver and operator.
The driver was caught via a dashboard camera footage illegally counter-flowing and the LTFRB will investigate the incident, according to a report by Raffy Tima on GMA-7’s “24 Oras” on Thursday.
The video shows that the driver behind the dashboard camera was driving on his lane when a jeepney blocked his way. The driver did not swerve to another lane and he even drove forward to compel the jeepney driver to return to his lane.
They were at a standstill until a traffic enforcer reprimanded the jeepney driver.
“Tama iyong tumawag na ng enforcer para mamagitan at kausapin iyong nagkamaling sakakyan, itong jeep na na huwag mag-counterflow, at traffic violation iyon, tiketan kaagad,” LTFRB Board Member Atty. Ariel Inton said.
Although the LTFRB made it clear that the jeepney driver was at fault, the reminded motorists to avoid confrontation or to do anything that will escalate the tension.
Motoring expert Johnny Angeles, chairman of the Automobile Association Philippines’ Advocacies and Government Liaison committees issued a similar reminder.
“Kasi iyong ibang jeepney kung alam mo ang may-ari nyan mga ex-army men, may mga baril iyon eh. I have seen some of them na may mga baril,” he said. — Trisha Macas, BAP, GMA News
