Some students of a university in Manila got an experience in life when a Light Rail Transit train they were riding on Thursday sprinted at full speed while the door in front of them was open.

YouScooper James Cubelo, 19, a graduating student of the Technological University of the Philippines, took a video of the incident and posted it on his Facebook account.

As of 8:45 a.m. the video already had 445,682 views.

Cubelo said they took the LRT train at Central Station at about 6 p.m., and to their suprise, the train moved and ran at full speed with the door still open.

He said they called the attention of the guard at the next stop [UN Station] but the guard said: "kapit nalang kayo ng mabuti (just hold tight on the handrails)"

Cubelo said the door problem was addressed when the train reached the Pedro Gil Station.

In a statement obtained by GMA News Online, the Light Rail Manila Corp. apologized for the incident and promised to conduct an investigation on the "door issue."

A commuters' group called the Train Riders Network (TREN) said the Ayala-Pangilinan  should be held liable for the incident

"Commuters demand that Mr. Ayala and Mr. Pangilinan explain why this incident happened and who will be held accountable. Their joint venture has taken over LRT1 since Sept. 2015 and have reaped fare hikes purportedly to improve services.

"We cannot remember a similar incident when LRT1 was still under public control. Is this a sign that the Ayala-Pangilinan group is not up to par to maintaining LRT1 and securing commuters? Or are they only concerned with profits?

"Heads should roll over this incident. We should not tolerate any sign of recklessness, incompetence and mismanagement by those who came forward as 'saviors' of the LRT1. DOTC and LRTA should intervene to protect commuters." the group's statement attributed to its spokesperson, James Relativo, read. — LBG/APG, GMA  News
