14 commuters hurt in EDSA bus collision
Fourteen commuters were injured after two buses were involved in a collision along the northbound lane on EDSA corner Congressional Avenue in Muñoz, Quzon City on Tuesday morning.
According to a report by Super Radyo dzBB's Allan Gatus on GMA 7's “24 Oras,” the incident transpired at 4 a.m., when the Admiral Bus coming from Congressional Avenue crossed EDSA while beating the red light. At the same time, the Sta. Rita Bus from Cubao was headed towards Balintawak.
The collision caused the buses to hit the LRT post on the EDSA-Congressional Avenue intersection, affecting other vehicles, including a Mitsubishi L300 and a motorcycle.
“Nag-beating the red light daw ang dalawang bus. Tila nag-uunahan daw sa pasahero,” said MMDA traffic enforcer Daniel Maghinay.
The injured passengers were immediately brought to Quezon City General Hospital for treatment.
Meanwhile, the Quezon City Police Department are already in contact with the bus operators after the drivers fled.
Maghinay advices motorists, “Mag-ingat sa pagmamaneho. Sa mga bus driver, huwag mag-unahan sa pagpapasakay ng mga pasahero para makaiwas sa aksidente.”
The motorists may be charged with reckless imprudence resulting to damage to property and multiple physical injuries. — Bianca Rose Dabu, BAP, GMA News
