The world says goodbye to 'Courageous Caitie'

Three-year-old Caitlyn Lucas, famously known as “Courageous Caitie,” has had her remains cremated on Sunday afternoon, three days after she passed away due to a rare blood cancer called juvenile myelomonocytic leukemia (JMML), which affects infants and toddlers.

Caitie's family, headed by her mom and dad, arranged a beautiful “wedding ceremony” for their daughter to celebrate her union with the Lord, the “ultimate Lover of our souls.”

Her remains were escorted by her favorite Storm Troopers, the iconic soldiers from the “Star Wars” movie franchise.

A wedding reception followed at the Arlington Memorial Chapel.

It has been a colorful memorial for Caitie since Saturday, as she was welcomed with party poppers upon arrival at the Arlington Memorial Chapels in Quezon City.

Caitie personally wished that her wake be a lively and happy celebration of her short but fulfilled life.

Saturday night's memorial service was debut-themed—a commemoration of the child's fruitful three years in the world where she was an inspiration to a lot of people.

“We didn't wait until she was a teenager for our mom and daughter or father and daughter dates. Didn't wait till she was old enough to attend dance classes etc. We didn't wait for a wedding to have her dirty dancing lift up father daughter dance. We didn't wait when she was old enough to travel the world,” Caitie's parents said.

They added, “Thank you Lord for the grace that in three years we lived what was like 30 years. Her body was 3 but her soul lived like it was 30 years old in experience, in wisdom and beauty.” — APG, GMA News
