After assisting the mother in the delivery of a baby boy, Chanco started to worry because the newborn did not make a sound. “So ginawa ko, stinistimulate ko siya,” said the nurse. “One minute stinistimulate ko siya. Ay good thing umiyak yung baby!”
While Chanco assited the mother, the driver diverted their bus and headed for the nearest hospital. Other passengers helped by trying to manage traffic so the bus could change directions, while another passenger offered her blazer for Chanco to wrap the baby with.
And for the baby's parents, Rando Llaorag and Arlin Belguera, their good fortune did not end with a healthy baby boy and helpful passengers. To their surprise, the owner of the provincial bus they were on paid part of their hospital bill.
