MMDA: Quezon Ave.-Roosevelt intersection closed to traffic

The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority advised motorists on Saturday to take alternate routes as the Quezon Ave.-Roosevelt intersection is temporarily closed to traffic.

In its advisory, the  MMDA said the temporary closure is due to the ongoing construction of Skyway Stage 3 project.

"Left-turning traffic from Roosevelt to Quezon Ave. may take the U-turn slot in front of Maxima," it said.

"As such, traffic lights in the area will be in flashing mode and the U-turn slot will be opened for affected vehicles going to EDSA while the Skyway Stage 3 is ongoing," it added.

Roosevelt Ave. has become an alternate route for vehicles from the northern side of Araneta Ave. because of the Skyway Stage 3 project, which resulted in the increase of left-turning vehicles and gridlock in the area, the MMDA said.

Skyway Stage 3 is an elevated expressway from Buendia in Makati to Balintawak in Quezon City with a distance of about 14.82 kilometers, according to the Department of Public Works and Highways.

It is designed to pull in and ease traffic and access through eight interchanges at Buendia, Pres. Qurino Ave., Plaza Dilao and Nagtahan, Aurora Blvd., E.Rodriguez Ave. Sgt. Rivera and Balintawak with a total of 14 toll plazas. —John Ted Cordero/LBG, GMA News
