NBI nabs alleged Dutch supplier of ‘cookie monster’ ecstasy

The National Bureau of Invetsigation (NBI) on Monday said it has arrested a Dutch national who allegedly supplies ecstasy worth P15 million in Makati City.

The NBI said upon coordination with the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency and the local Makati police, it conducted a search at a bar in Makati Thursday last week but failed to find any ecstasy and cocaine.

After a “thorough inquiry” by the NBI, the bar’s in-house security reportedly revealed vital information to authorities and identified Martin De Fong as the supplier of the illegal substance.

The NBI planned an entrapment operation to capture De Fong, who did not resist arrest and volunteered information to the authorities that he got the illegal substance from another Dutch national named Cornelius Meskars.

The NBI said it seized cocaine and ecstasy from the suspect.

De Fong claimed that Meskars was a major supplier of cocaine and ecstasy but has since gone missing after his alleged abduction in Angeles, Pampanga.

He surrendered the rest of the supply of 5,023 tablets of blue and pink “cookie monster ecstasy,” which is shaped like the cartoon character, worth P15 million at his flat in Makati.

Charges of violation of Section 5 and 11, Article II of Republic Act 9165 were filed against De Fong before the Makati CIty Prosecutor’s Office. —Mark Merueñas/KBK, GMA News
