Pasay police on Duterte's 'failure of intelligence' comment: We did our best
Pasay City police defended itself from criticisms that they committed a failure of intelligence this past weekend during the concert that saw five people fall dead.
"Sa amin sa Pasay, we have done our best," said the city's police chief S/Spt. Joel Doria in a report on "24 Oras" by Jun Veneracion.
This statement was in response to incoming President Rodrigo Duterte's comment that failure of intelligence led to the deaths at the "Closeup Forever Summer" concert in Pasay City.
However, Pasay police said they are also looking into negligence on their part in their Special Investigation Task Group (SITG), the report said. Pasay police deployed plainclothes operatives wearing IDs given by the organizer, but they were outnumbered by the estimated 12,000 concert attendees.
"Wala po kasi tayong report na natatanggap na mayroon mangyayaring transaksyon sa loob," said Supt. Jenny Tecson, spokesperson of the SITG.
Doria also said he didn't receive reports from the operatives of illegal transactions at the concert.
The PNP Crime Laboratory found that two of the deceased, Ken Miyagawa and Eric Anthony Miller, suffered sudden cardiac death and organ failure.
Meanwhile, the National Bureau of investigation (NBI) conducted its own autopsy of two other deceased, Lance Garcia and Bianca Fontejon, where they found out that the two died from massive heart attack.
The PNP Crime Lab noted it was not able to collect urine samples from the four. This was an indication that the victims were dehydrated.
"Kaya nga ginagawa natin ang toxicology test para masabi natin ano'ng droga ang na take nila," said, Supt. Bonnie Chua, chief of Southern Police District Crime Lab. —John Ted Cordero/JST, GMA News
