MRT 3 runs partial operation as lightning strikes catenary cable on train
The Metro Rail Transit 3 on EDSA was forced to run a provisional service after its train was hit by lightning between Santolan and Ortigas stations.
Department of Transportation and Communications (DOTC) spokesperson Cherie Mercado said on Twitter that the lightning struck at around 6:30 p.m.

She said the cable was "severed" by the lightning strike.
As of 7:41 p.m., MRT trains were running only from Shaw Boulevard to Taft Avenue and vice versa.
Mercado said DOTC Secretary Arthur Tugade has ordered "immediate action" to fully restore the MRT's service. —ALG, GMA News
