QCPD: 130 drug suspects killed, nearly 1,800 arrested in 3 months
The Quezon City Police District (QCPD) has killed more than 100 drug personalities and arrested nearly 1,800 more in its intensified campaign against drugs the last three months, its commander reported Saturday.
QCPD director Guillermo Eleazar said at a weekly forum that Quezon City policemen have killed 131 drug suspects in police operations from July 1 to 10 a.m. of October 8.
Eleazar also reported that a total of 1,785 drug personalities have also been arrested during the same period. Of the said number, 1,418 are drug users and 367 were suspected pushers.
The QCPD recently announced the arreset of celebrities Sabrina M and Krista Miller.
He also reported that there were already 8,718 surrenderers, which include 8,111 users and 607 pushers.
Eleazar, meanwhile, said that policemen have also visited a total of 12,522 houses under the QCPD's modified Oplan Tokhang where lawmen also conduct information campaigns.
The QCPD director said that over the past three months, the number of recorded incidents of homicide, physical injury, robbery, theft, carnapping and motornapping has significantly declined.
“Kung makikita po talaga natin since 2014, talaga pong bumababa siya,” Eleazar said.
He attributed the low crime rate in the city to the QCPD's intensified Oplan Lambat-Sibat, which is evaluated every week to apply the necessary changes.
“Hind po natin pinabayaan ang other forms of criminality habang tayo’y nag-i-intensify sa ating campaign,” Eleazar noted.
Eleazar also cited that the QCPD continues to rid its ranks from scalawags, including corrupt policemen and those involved in drugs.
“We continue the investigations sa ating mga kasamahan na naulat na nasangkot sa ilegal na gawain,” he said.
"We want our operations to be effective, iyong mga hindi nakatulong sa kampanya ay tinatanggal sa posisyon,” he added. —ALG, GMA News
