Quezon City suspends work following Magnitude 5 quake


All business transactions with Quezon City's local government was temporarily closed following the Magnitude 5 quake that hit the province of Quezon on Thursday.

 

 

Employees of the Quezon City Hall were evacuated and sent home early after the quake hit Metro Manila and other nearby areas past 3 p.m.

State volcanologists PHIVOLCS reported that the earthquake happened at General Nakar in Quezon at a depth of 18 km at around 3:10 p.m.

General Nakar experienced the quake at Intensity V, Quezon City, Marikina City, Manila, Makati City, Tarlac City, San Juan City felt the earthquake at Intensity III.

Initially reported as a Magnitude 4.4 earthquake, the tremor was also felt in Antipolo City, Taguig City, Mauban and Lucban, Quezon, Cabanatuan City, Bulacan, and Mandaluyong City.

On radio dzBB, PHIVOLCS Director Renato Solidum said aftershocks were possible. 

"Posibleng magkaroon ng aftershock pero sana naman ay mas maliit at hindi maramdaman na ng ating (mga) kababayan," he said. — Rie Takumi/RSJ, GMA News
