Passengers crowd Araneta Center Bus Terminal after being stranded at ports on Christmas

Two days after Christmas, the Araneta Center Bus Terminal in Cubao, Quezon City became crowded as passengers who were stranded in provinces due to Typhoon Nina arrived Tuesday, a report on News To Go said.

There were also passsengers already heading to the provinces for the New Year holidays, GMA News' Mark Salazar reported.

Those heading to Bicol are going home before New Year's Eve to fix their homes damaged by the typhoon.

One of them is Boni Siga of Naga, who took a leave from work to go back to his hometown to fix his roof blown away by Typhoon Nina's strong winds. He has been at the bus terminal since 3 a.m. Tuesday hoping to get a bus ride home as a chance passenger.

At the pay parking area beside the bus terminal, commuters haggled with taxi drivers willing to drive to the provinces. The lowest fare quoted for a trip to Bicol was P1,300 per head.

A taxi driver who refused to have his face shown on-cam said they are just trying to help passengers who could not get bus rides to go home to their provinces. —KG, GMA News
