BJMP conducts surprise inspection at Marikina City Jail
Marikina City Jail's inmates got a not-so-nice jolt Thursday morning when members of the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP) conducted a surprise check dubbed “Greyhound Operation” for suspected contraband inside their cells.
Members of the inspection team, however, did not find illegal drugs, firearms, deadly weapons, and illegal items. All they found were notebooks, ballpens, steel utensils, and personal belongings of the inmates.

The operation was jointly conducted by BJMP and the Marikina City police, GMA News’ Mark Zambrano said in an Unang Balita report on Thursday.
Jail warden Jodjie Jonathan Pangan said the operation is conducted three times a week to make sure that no illegal substances will be smuggled into the penitentiary.
