Manila City Hall employee shoots Badjao man dead

A member of the Manila City Hall Security Force is facing homicide charges for the killing of a Badjao beggar in Sampaloc district, early Sunday.

A 24 Oras report identified the suspect as Renato Ramos, whose identity was traced by the police through an identification card recovered from his wallet.

The suspect dropped his wallet during the shooting of a Badjao tribe member identified as Jimmy Saed.

Police said Ramos shot Saed along Lacson Avenue in Sampaloc district at around 2 a.m.

Investigations showed that the Badjao victim was begging for money from motorists along the avenue when he was shot dead by Ramos using a .356 revolver.

Ramos said he thought Saed was going to rob him. —report from Jam Sisante/ALG, GMA News
