Fire kills old woman in Tondo; 10 families homeless

An old woman died in a fire that gutted apartment units in Balut, Tondo, early Tuesday.

Authorities identified the victim as Rosalina Hornilla, 69.

The fire gutted five two-storey apartments along Alfonso Street, leaving 10 families homeless.

The fire started before 4 a.m. and was declared under control at 4:42 a.m.

Authorities said the fire started from the second floor of the rented apartment of the Hornillas.

Investigators have yet to determine the cause of the fire. —ALG, GMA News
