In his speech during the ceremony, Concepcion said he will do his best in heading a university of more than 50,000 students.
Concepcion also urged the UP community to be compassionate toward each other as this will bring them toward achieving their goals for the university in the next six years.
During the speech, Concepcion also named the members of his executive team, including former Health Undersecretary Teodoro Herbosa as Executive Vice President and Filipino writer Dr. Jose "Butch" Dalisay Jr. as Vice President for Public Affairs.
Other members include Vice Presidents for Academic Affairs Dr. Ma. Cynthia Rose Bautista, Planning and Finance Dr. Joselito Florendo, Administration Prof. Nestor Yunque, Development Dr. Elvira Zamora, Legal Affairs Atty. Hector Danny Uy, and Secretary Roberto Lara.
Concepcion was selected among five other nominees, including UP Vice President for Academic Affairs Gisela Concepcion, former UP Vice President for Public Affairs and Commission on Higher Education (CHED) Commissioner Prospero de Vera, former UP Diliman College of Engineering Dean and Science and Technology Undersecretary Rowena Cristina Guevara, UP Vice-Chancellor for Academic Affairs Benito Pacheco, and former UP Diliman Chancellor Caesar Saloma.
Before being selected as UP President, Concepcion served as dean of the UP College of Law. —KBK, GMA News
