Suspect in killing of Masculados Dos member Ozu Ong nabbed in QC
One of the suspects allegedly involved in the killing of Marcelo "Ozu" Ong, a member of the all-male group Masculados Dos, was nabbed in Fairview, Quezon City, a report on Unang Balita on Tuesday said.
Authorities arrested Kristopher Kyle Ernie after they received a tip that the suspect was seen in Fairview, GMA News' Cesar Apolinario reported.
Ong was shot dead in Barangay Mahabang Parang in Angono, Rizal on August 2, 2015.
A warrant of arrest against Ernie was issued by the court in November 2016 for carnapping with homicide charges.
Ernie, however, refused to answer questions regarding his involvement in the shooting incident, despite that he had already confessed last September 22, 2015, in which he identified his cohorts.
"Ikaw and nagturo kung saan dinala ang baril na ginamit. Ikaw ang nagturo kung nasaan ang plaka. Ikaw ang nagturo ng personal belongings ni Ozu 'di ba?" Supt. Guillermo Eleazar, District Director of Quezon City Police District, said on Monday when he presented the suspect to the members of the media.
"Andito ang kapatid. Aminin mo na sino ba talaga pumatay roon," he added.
Ernie went into hiding after identifying his cohorts.
Eleazar said that despite Ernie's silence, his involvement in the incident cannot be denied.
"Definitely Kyle 'di pwedeng mag-alinlangan na 'di siya involved. He is involved... Ang tanong siya ba ang gunman?" Eleazar said.
Ernie previously claimed that he was the driver of the group that killed Ong near his home in Angono, Rizal in the wee hours of August 2. Ong's Toyota Hilux pick-up, which he was driving at that time, was taken by the suspects.
Police said Ernie identified his cohorts as Jaime Ilano alias Toto Laki, the alleged gunman, and Paulo Hernandez, a call center agent, both residents of Cavite.
Meanwhile, the relatives of Ong continued to cry for justice, saying it has been two years since the incident and it is still not clear what really happened.
They also called for authorities to arrest the other suspects involved.
"Hustisya 'pag nahuli na sila," Jane Ong, sister of the victim, said.
Ernie was arrested last September 14, 2015 for his involvement in the killing of a seaman, Arnest John Agbayani.
