Thick smoke billows out of Trinoma on Tuesday

Thick smoke billowed out of Trinoma Mall in Quezon City on Tuesday morning after its warehouse caught fire on Monday.

However, Bureau of Fire Protection National Capital Region director Senior Supt. Wilberto Rico Neil Kwan Tiu clarified that there was no new fire at the mall.

"Wala naman. Usok lang na pumasok sa air vent," Kwan Tiu told GMA News Online.

"Nung umandar 'yung genset (generator set), [lumabas]," he added.

Fire on Monday

On Monday afternoon, fire struck the warehouse of the shopping mall reaching the second alarm.

It was declared out around 6:33 p.m.

Four people were reported injured in the fire that lasted for more than three hours, GMA News' Dano Tingcungco reported on Balitanghali on Tuesday.

Damage from the fire was pegged at more or less P3 million.

The fire was said to have started at the warehouse where appliances are kept.

Firemen had difficulty battling the fire due to the thick smoke even with their oxygen masks on.
