Quezon City imposes truck ban along Sauyo Road to ease traffic

Trucks and other heavy motor vehicles plying the stretch of Sauyo Road and Old Sauyo Road will now be banned within a certain time in Quezon City in order to ease traffic congestion.

Quezon City Mayor Herbert Bautista on Tuesday signed into law Ordinance 2572-2017, prohibiting trucks and other heavy motor vehicles to traverse along Sauyo Road and Old Sauyo Road from 6 a.m. to 10 a.m. and from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m.

Under the ordinance which was introduced by Councilor Eric Medina, motorists who will not comply will face a fine of P5,000 or imprisonment for one year, or both at the discretion of the court.

However, government-owned or under contract vehicles will be exempted from the truck ban.

Quezon City's Department of Public Order and Safety (BPLO), the QC Police District's traffic department, and the Metro Manila Development Authority will supervise the implementation of the truck ban. — Marlly Rome Bondoc/MDM, GMA News
