3 residents killed as masked gunmen break into Caloocan home

Some three residents were shot to death inside their Barangay Bagong Silang, Caloocan City home late Sunday night, according to a report on GMA 7 morning news program "Unang Balita".

The victims were identified as 58-year-old Wilma Liwanag, her 31-year-old son Aries, and Liwanag's 60-year-old live-in partner know only by the nickname "Boy".

Liwanag's five-year-old grandchild survived the mass-shooting, but was injured and taken to hospital.

According to neighbors, they heard the shooters break into Liwanag's home. They even heard the victims beg for their lives before the shooting started.

The neighbors then saw the gunmen, there were two of them and they were masked, casually walk away from the scene.

According to the local Police Community Precinct commander, Chief Insp. Ronald Cayago, Liwanag's home had been used as a drug den, and the mass shooting may have had something to do with a drug-deal that had gone bad.

However, the Bagong Silang porok leader told GMA News that Liwanag was not on their drugs watch-list.

Liwanag's mother meanwhile said she had no idea if the allegations were true, though she admitted that she had not spoken to her daughter for some time. — DVM, GMA News
