HOLY WEEK EXODUS

Araneta bus terminal not yet crowded but bulk of passengers seen Friday afternoon

Only a few passengers were spotted early Friday morning at the old Araneta Center bus terminal in Cubao, Quezon City, GMA News' Jay Sabale reported on Unang Balita.

The influx of passengers is expected on Friday afternoon after work ends, and may continue until Holy Week.

Meanwhile, some vacationers opted to travel early this week in order to avoid the Holy Week rush.

According to Araneta Center Bus terminal authorities, trips to Bicol were already fully-booked this Holy Week.

There are still seats available on buses bound for Visayas until the first week of May, they said.

They also reminded passengers that only 10 kilograms of baggage are free.

Passengers need to pay about P50 to P200 if their baggage will weigh 11 to 20 kilos.

Authorities said they will announce if additional buses will be available for chance passengers.

Although there are additional buses provided every day, these units are only assigned for short trips to Batangas and Lucena, they said. —Marlly Rome Bondoc/KG, GMA News
