One killed, 23 injured after jeepney rams into concrete barrier

A woman was killed and 23 other people were injured after a passenger jeepney drove straight into a concrete barrier in Pasig City on Thursday, an exclusive report on GMA's "24 Oras Weekend" on Sunday said.

According to the report, the jeepney rammed into a concrete barrier on the corner of Lanuza Street and Ortigas Avenue in Pasig City at 3:00 p.m. on Thursday, April 13. The woman was killed when she was thrown from the front passenger seat.

"Bale 'yung babae, hindi na po kinaya. Natumba na po siya diyan, bulagta na," Rodel Sarahan, Traffic Enforcer in the area, said.

The jeepney also hit another vehicle, which in turn hit another jeepney, the report said.

Police officials believe the driver of the jeepney, Dominador Bampili, had been racing with another jeepney. He is now facing charges of reckless imprudence resulting in homicide and multiple injuries. — Jon Viktor D. Cabuenas/BM, GMA News
