Rider 'test-driving' motorcycle nearly topples tricycle, tries to escape
A rider test-driving a motorcycle he borrowed from his friend hit a tricycle along Timog Avenue in Quezon City causing it to topple over.
The rider, who was identified as 25-year-old Angelo Mesina by a traffic enforcer of Barangay South Triangle, tried to escape after the incident, according to a report by Cesar Apolinario on "24 Oras" on Monday.
CCTV footage Mesina sideswiping a tricycle, which almost turned over nearly crushing its driver.
Mesina tried to escape from the crime scene but the CCTV footage helped authorities capture him.
"Tumakbo agad din ako roon kasama yung tricycle [driver]. Nakita namin yung motor dun... doon na namin na-trace," barangay traffic bureau chief Efren Castro said.
Mesina was brought to the QCPD Traffic Sector 1 where he faced the tricycle driver.
Castro said Mesina also had an altercation with the barangay's traffic enforcers.
"Ano siya matapang talaga, maangas," Castro said. "Kaya ginawa nung mga tanod natin inawat siya 'brad halika,' hanggang sa pati mga tanod inaway n'ya."
Nonetheless, the report said Mesina, his victim, and the barangay enforcers agreed to settle their disagreements.
Mesina also pledged to shoulder the expenses of the tricycle driver at the hospital and the cost of repairing his tricycle unit.
Barangay chairman Larry Handayan said Mesina promised to be a better rider following the incident. "Sa kasunduan nagsabi na hindi na uulit, 'pag umulit talagang tutuluyan na s'ya ng mga tanod natin." —Joseph Tristan Roxas/JST, GMA News
