Anti-cybercime cops nab man for spreading woman's nude photos online

The Philippine National Police-Anti Cybercrime Group (PNP-ACG) on Wednesday arrested a man who allegedly spread a woman's nude photos online.

The PNP-ACG identified the suspect as Reynaldo Morales, 24, resident of Lambakin, Marilao, Bulacan and a native of Uson, Masbate.

A mobile phone seized from him during the arrest has been submitted for forensic examination.

Police said Morales will be charged with coercion committed by means, through and by the use of information and communication technology under Section 6 of Republic Act 10175 or The Cybercrime Prevention Act, rape, violence against women, voyeurism and illegal possession of deadly weapon.

Morales was arrested by policemen in an entrapment operation in Cubao, Quezon City around 10:36 a.m.

The PNP-ACG said that its men, along with members of the Masbate police, caught the suspect in the act of dragging a woman to a taxicab.

The suspect allegedly asked sexual favors from the woman in exchange for deleting her nude photos online.

The woman claimed that she and the suspect had a long-distance relationship, but they had already broken up.

The woman filed her complaint with the Masbate police.

Her uncle told police that last April 6, the suspect sent copies of her nude photos to her relatives abroad, friends, schoolmates and even college professors to blackmail her into returning to him as his girlfriend.

The suspect also allegedly asked money from the woman and even threatened to kill her relatives.

Police said that Morales had admitted to sending the woman's nude photos to her relatives. He said he wanted the woman's relatives to know that she was a flirt.

The suspect also claimed that the woman had another boyfriend, police added.

Morales, meanwhile, denied that he tried to extort money from the woman. He said he only wanted the woman to return the money that he spend on her while they were in a relationship.

He said he wanted the woman to return to him P17,000, the amount of the cellphone and a necklace that he gave to the woman. —ALG, GMA News
