Cops nab 4 drug suspects, seize 1,000 CD replicating machines in Quiapo

Police nabbed four drug suspects and seized about 1,000 replicating machines used in making pirated DVDs in a buy-bust operation in Quiapo, Manila, a report on Unang Balita said Thursday.

Manila Police District - Drug Enforcement Unit (DEU) authorities were initially targeting four drug suspects in a buy-bust operation, GMA News' Jay Sabale reported.

However, the suspects ran toward Norzagaray Street in Quiapo when they found out that they were transacting with police operatives.

Authorities then cornered and arrested the four suspects and accidentally discovered the said CD replicating machines in a building on Norzagaray Street.

Police back-up from the Barbosa Police Community Precinct (PCP) was requested by Manila's DEU.

Pirated DVDs were also confiscated and about 34 employees were brought to the police station for verification.

Authorities said they are still looking for the owner of the replicating machines.

"Sa bulto, sa dami ng mga replicating machines na nakikita natin...patuloy pa ring ini-imbentaryo...Iniimbestigahan pa natin kung sino 'yung mga involved dito," PCP-Barbosa Chief Insp. Michael Garcia said. —Marlly Rome Bondoc/KG, GMA News
