Alleged Martilyo Gang leader nabbed

Authorities arrested on Tuesday Sulayman Dimapuro alias Jomar, the alleged leader of the Martilyo Gang which has been tagged as behind some jewelry heists in shopping malls, a report on Unang Balita on Friday said.

Dimapuro was nabbed in Brgy. Caa, Las Piñas City after the Southern Police District received a tip that the suspect is collecting drug money.

Recovered from the suspect was a caliber .45 firearm, ammunition, magazine, and two sachets of alleged shabu.

Dimapuro allegedly led the series of jewelry heists in shopping malls from 2011 to 2014.

The group reportedly then shifted to illegal drugs.

Also arrested at a follow-up police operation was Dimapuro's wife Warda Alamada. —KG, GMA News
