One of Resorts World attack victims was a single mother, family's breadwinner

One of the 37 victims in the Resorts World Manila attack was a single mother and breadwinner of her family.

In an interview on Unang Balita on Monday, Angelie Tolentino said they were still in shock because of the sudden death of her sister, Ivy Muñoz.

She said Muñoz was dealing cards at the Resorts World Manila's casino when former Department of Finance employee Jessie Carlos attacked the posh establishment early Friday.

"Very tragic talaga ang nangyari. Sobrang biglaan talaga," Tolentino said.

She said her sister left one child and they their parents have yet to grasp what had actually happened to Muñoz, especially that she was their family's breadwinner.

Tolentino said they are not contemplating on filing charges against the management of Resort World Manila despite the attack.

"For us naman as long as maayos sila makipag-usap sa amin and hindi kami maaagrabyado at alam namin na makukuha namin... para sa naiwan ni ate sa anak niya. Kasing sobrang hirap eh. Si ate breadwinner namin iyan," she said.

She said representatives of Resorts World have visited her sister's wake on Sunday night.

"Nagkaroon kami ng pag-uusap kung paano ang arrangement regarding... especially naiwan niya ang anak niya," she said.

On Saturday, Resorts World Manila chief operating officer Stephen Reilly announced that they will extend a P1-million financial assistance to each family of those who died in the attack.

A total of 38 people, including Carlos, died in the attack.

Carlos, who was a casino gambling addict, killed himself after torching gaming tables at the resort hotel's casino.

Majority of the victims died due to suffocation. —ALG, GMA News
