Predawn fire hits Brgy. Don Manuel in QC

Seven families were affected after a predawn fire engulfed a ten-room rental apartment in Barangay Don Manuel in Quezon City on Monday.

According to a report on Unang Balita by Jay Sabale, the fire broke out at the rental on Nicanor Ramirez Street past 2 a.m.

The fire spread quickly since the house was built of light materials.

Firemen had to go up on its roof to put out the blaze.

Joie Sombilla, one of the residents there, said he and his friends were downstairs when they smelled something burning.

They saw a cabinet on fire and hurriedly doused it with water.

The house has 10 rooms being rented out.

The fire also damaged the building behind it.

Firemen were able to put out the fire at 2:47 a.m.

Sr. Insp. Richard Malamug, Bureau of Fire Protection Station 4 commander, said they are still investigating the cause of the fire, but initially think it had to do with faulty electrical wiring.

Damage was placed at P40,000.
