Some lanes of Osmeña Highway (South Super Highway) were closed on Tuesday morning in Makati City after a beam from the Skyway extension construction fell on the road.

According to a report on News To Go, the beam being constructed at the corner of Osmeña Highway and Sen. Gil Puyat Avenue (Buendia Avenue) gave way.

Heavy traffic was reported in the area as of posting time.

Authorities are still investigating the cause of the accident and whether there were any injuries, a report on Balitanghali said.

In a separate statement, DM Consunji, Inc. (DMCI) who handles the Skyway extension project, said five of its workers sustained scratches and minor injuries while two private vehicles were slightly damaged due to the accident.

"We are now attending to our workers and fast tracking the clearing operations to make the affected portions of Osmeña Highway passable to motorists," DMCI said.

The Makati City Police Station identified the injured victims as Nomar Nicolas, Ronald Degamo, Jerwin Deocareza, Jay-ar Balaquidan and Guillermo Santos Jr.

They were rushed to Ospital ng Maynila Medical Center.

DMCI said that they are expecting to clear the area by 3 p.m.

Meanwhile, they advised motorists to take alternate routes as clearing operation is ongoing.

"We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience this caused the public," they added.
