Horse-beating Binondo coachman angers netizens

A video in which a Binondo, Manila coachman or kutsero can be seen beating a frail-looking horse has angered netizens, GMA 7 news program "24 Oras Weekend" reported on Saturday.

In the video, passers-by can be seen intervening until the coachman stopped hitting the horse with a broom.

According to the Philippine Animal Welfare Society (PAWS), they wanted to prohibit the operation of kalesa rides around the Metro Manila.

The society also hosts seminars for horse-owners and coachmen on how to properly care for their animals.

As for the the particular case of the Binondon coachman, PAWS invited him to speak with them regarding the incident.
