With broken ‘boom stick,’ PNR train hits car in Sampaloc, Manila

A Philippine National Railways train hit a car in Sampaloc, Manila, according to a Balita Pilipinas report on Tuesday.

Authorities said the incident was blamed on a broken "broom stick" or the fence that is lowered to block vehicles from crossing the track whenever a train passes by.

The report said the car's driver also failed to notice the oncoming train bound for Tutuban.
