Facebook friend nabbed for extortion, rape of 17-year-old
The Philippine National Police Anti-Cybercrime Group arrested Friday a 21-year-old man for allegedly rape and extorting money from a 17-year-old Facebook friend.
PNP ACG Director Chief Supt. Marnie Marcos Jr identified the suspect as Jhon Angel Abitona of Bagong Silang, Caloocan City.
He said the suspect, using the name James Dela Cruz, befriended the victim and later lured her to send him nude photos and videos in exchange for P10,000.
However, the suspect refused to pay the amount after the victim sent the photos and videos.
The suspect, instead, started threatening the victim that he would upload her photos and videos on the internet if she would not agree to have sex with him.
The victim, terrified that the suspect would make good the threat, agreed to meet Abitona at an apartelle in Caloocan City on July 24.
It was then that the suspect allegedly raped the victim.
The suspect once again threatened the victim that he would upload her photos and videos if she would not give him P3,000.
After giving an initial amount of P1,000, the victim sought the help of the Women and Children Protection Section of the ACG.
Marcos said the ACG and Caloocan Police conducted the entrapment operation around 4 p.m., July 28, at a money remittance branch in Bagong Silang.
The ACG operatives instructed the victim to send P1,000 and Abitona was arrested after getting the money.
Recovered from the suspect was a mobile phone which contained nude photographs of unidentified young girls.
Marcos said the ACG would investigate whether or not the unidentified girls were victims of Abitona.
Abitona had been brought to the Department of Justice for the filing of charges of robbery/extortion, rape, child pornography, and child abuse. —NB, GMA News
