1 dead, 12 injured in 12-vehicle collision in Muntinlupa

Twelve vehicles on Wednesday collided on the West Service Road in Barangay Sucat in Muntinlupa, leaving one dead and 12 injured, according to a report by Jamie Santos on Unang Balita on Thursday.

The fatality was a motorcycle rider identified as Hermenegildo Lopez Cama, a resident of Elizalde Compound, Parañaque City. The report said Cama was found underneath a van by the emergency response team of Barangay Sucat.

"'Yung maliit na truck, 'yun ang bumungo sa motor na kumaladkad sa isang rider na malala 'yung kalagayan. 'Yung manibela ng motor ay nakaipit sa kaniyang paa at noong tinignan namin, maitim na siya," said Jeramel Mendoza, barangay kagawad.

According to the report, the vehicles involved in the accident were two trucks, two passenger jeepneys, a private car, a sport utility vehicle, and six motorcycles.

Twelve others were injured and were taken to the hospital. Two of them were identified as Romeo Soberiano, a resident in Pillar Village in Las Piñas, and Marvin Cervantes of Signal Village in Taguig City.

One of the injured was another motorcycle rider found underneath a passenger jeepney.

"'Yung isa pong naka-motor, may open wounds. Naipit po siya [sa ilalim ng jeep], wakwak po 'yung kaniyang hita," said Mendoza.

The responders said the driver and porter of the trailer truck fled immediately after the accident.

Authorities were still conducting further investigations and were on the manhunt for the driver and porter. —Akari Nakano/KG, GMA News
