Pasay police forms special team to probe condo stabbing


Pasay Police chief Senior Superintendent Dionisio Bartolome Jr. has ordered the creation of a special investigation team that will look into the stabbing incident at the Central Park Tower Condominium that left six people dead, including the suspect.

Fourteen policemen will compose Station Special Investigation Team (SSIT) "Central Park," which will be led by Bartolome himself, according to the Special Order dated August 30, 2017.

The group will have six investigators and a team leader.

Southern Police District spokesperson Jenny Tecson said SSIT is created "to look into possible lapses [of the police], if any and to recommend resolution of the same."

Five people, among them a 12-year-old girl, were killed when suspect, Alberto Garan, 39, went on a stabbing spree reportedly following an altercation with his girlfriend on the 22nd floor of the condominium in Pasay City.

Killed in the incident were Garan's girlfriend Emelyn Sagun, 30; former journalist Joel Palacios, 70; Daisery Castillo, 12; Ligaya Dimapilis, 36; and Letecia Ecsiagan, 50.

Bartolome had earlier ordered the administrative relief of the commander of the police precinct that has jurisdiction over the condominium where the incident happened.

Bartolome said the relief was called for pending investigation on the incident. —KBK, GMA News
