Solano says he’s ‘Popoy’ in viral chat convo allegedly among Aegis fratmen

John Paul Solano said that he was the Popoy referred to in the supposed chat messages among fraternity brothers when an "emergency" occurred during a neophyte's initiation rites several days ago.

Solano is the Aegis Juris Fraternity member who surrendered on Friday to the Manila Police District on Friday in connection with the fatal hazing of University of Santo Tomas law student Horacio Castillo III.

"Yes, I'm Popoy," Solano told reporters when asked if he was.

The supposedly leaked chat conversation among Aegis fratmen is posted on the Justice for Horacio Facebook page.

A certain Axel sent a message past 9 a.m. on Sunday, saying, "emergency. Pwede po hingin number ni Popoy."

After awhile, Arvin directed them, "delete niyo muna o. Code of silence, manahimik na lang muna lahat."

Arvin also told them to deactivate their accounts.

Popoy replied saying, "Hnd ako mgdeactivate. Naiwan ako dito sa hospital eh."

Police said Castillo died of a massive heart attack possibly due to the injuries he suffered after undergoing hazing. —NB, GMA News
