Number coding stays despite class, work suspension on Monday — MMDA

The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) on Sunday announced that the number coding scheme will still be enforced on Monday, October 16, despite the suspension of classes and work in government offices.

Under the Unified Vehicular Volume Reduction Program (UVVRP) or the no-window hour number coding scheme, vehicles are banned from the road in Metro Manila from the hours of 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. once a week depending on their license numbers: Mondays for vehicles with license plates ending in 1 and 2; Tuesdays for those ending in 3 and 4; Wednesdays for those ending in 5 and 6; Thursdays for those ending in 7 and 8; and Fridays for those ending in 9 and 0.

Malacañang earlier announced the suspension of government work and classes in all levels of both public and private schools nationwide on Monday due to a two-day transport strike.

Meanwhile, the suspension of work in the private sector is "subject to discretion of employers."

According to the Office of the Executive Secretary Salvador Medialdea, October 17 (Tuesday) is not included in the suspension.

Lifted in Makati

The number coding scheme will be lifted in Manila, however, the local government said in a post on Twitter.
