Delivery truck, 4 cars collide on Magallanes flyover
Four cars and one delivery truck were involved in a collision on Magallanes flyover on Sunday morning, according to a 24 Oras report by Vonne Aquino.
The driver of one of the cars said that they were all stopped when the delivery van hit them.
"Nakahinto na kaming apat, bigla na lang kaming sinalpok ng truck sa likod. Sunod sunod kami doon," said Eduard Apuyan.
The truck driver denied the allegations, saying that the cars, which were all carrying tourists, had already collided before he supposedly hit them.
"Nakita namin, umuusok na doon sa ano... nagsalpukan na. Nag-apply na ko agad ng preno kaso 'yung gulong, umi-slide. Galing ako sa ibaba eh so may bwelo talaga, may impact talaga 'yung pagtaas ko," said Lizandro Quezada.
A Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) constable, however, is not buying the truck driver's explanation.
"Akala niya nakastop 'yun at nagbanggaan na. Pag ibabaw niya, pag-angat niyang ganon, siyempre diretso 'yun eh. Pag-angat niya doon na niya nabangga. Kung nagbanggaan 'yan, may mga laman 'yan, tourist vehicle, magbababaan 'yan," said Emil Guinto.
Guinto reminded motorists to be extra cautious to avoid road accidents.
"Pag nakakita na tayo ng mabagal na sasakyan, dapat nagmemenor din tayo para iwas din sa aksidente," he said.
The report said no one was injured in the incident and that the truck driver could face charges on reckless imprudence resulting in damage to property.
Meanwhile, in Labangan, Zamboanga del Sur, five vehicles were also involved in a multiple collision incident.
Police said a trailer truck lost its brakes and hit an armored van and a motorcycle. The truck also slammed into a pick-up truck and a passenger bus.
