Fire hits supermarket at Victory Central Mall in Caloocan

A fire broke out at a supermarket of the Victory Central Mall in Caloocan Wednesday morning, resulting in the temporary closure of the establishment.

A Super Radyo dzBB report by Sam Nielsen said Fire Superintendent Crispo Diaz of the Caloocan City Bureau of Fire Protection has recommended that the mall be temporarily closed as firefighters continue to douse the fire.

The fire has only reached first alarm, although it was "deep seated" at the supermarket's stock room at the ground floor, the report said.

According to Diaz, no highly flammable materials were inside, but the blaze was not coming out due to a lack of oxygen.

Firemen have used a smoke injector in order to clear the smoke and identify the source of the fire.

There are no reported casualties from the incident.

Authorities are now investigating if tenants had negligence because of some of that employees have claimed they have been seeing the fire since Tuesday.

Diaz said immediate response could have been made regarding the incident, but he wondered why no calls to authorities were made.

According to the report, this is the third time a fire has broken out at the building. The last one was at 2015.
