Traffic council wants radio frequency used by ‘colorums’ to dodge enforcers blocked
The Inter-agency Council on Traffic (i-ACT) on Friday said it wanted the National Telecommunications Commission (NTC) to block the radio frequency being used by unregistered or "colorum" vehicles to avoid traffic law enforcers.
According to a Balitanghali report by GMA News' Mark Salazar, Task Force Alamid in its early morning operations was not able to catch any colorum vehicles in Pasig City despite receiving many complaints from the area.
Colorum vehicles have reportedly been operating near the Ortigas Center and the Pasig area.
Erring colorum drivers in the area are reportedly using two-way radio to communicate and alert each other for any Task Force members on the lookout for colorum vehicles.
The traffic council reminded passengers about the imminent danger in riding colorum vehicles and encouraged carpooling instead.
I-ACT also appealed to local government units to assist them in enforcing the government's drive against colorum vehicles and other traffic violators.
Aside from requesting the NTC to block radio frequencies in some areas, the I-ACT also plans to urge malls not to hold weekend sales to alleviate traffic congestion. — Margaret Claire Layug — MDM, GMA News
