2 cops, 6 others nabbed for scalping Ateneo-La Salle championship game tickets

Two policemen and six others were arrested for scalping tickets to the the UAAP Season 80 men's basketball championship between Ateneo and La Salle at the Araneta Coliseum on Sunday.

In a report by Jay Sabale on Unang Balita, the arrested policemen were identified as Senior Police Officers 4 Renaldo Frias and Rudy Bala.

The other arrested scalpers were Romeo Panopio, Maximo Dayandante, Michael Segismundo, Almer Mercado, Artemio Comon and Faustino Valenzona.

Senior Inspector paterno Domondon Jr. of the Quezon City Police District's (QCPD) special operation unit, said the eight scalpers were arrested by plainclothes cops deployed at the Araneta Center.

"Itong mga tao natin, pinapila natin bilang isang regular na manonood lang. Habang nandun sila, may lumapit na isa sa kanila, nag-offer ng dalawa. So sabi ng tropa eh marami kami so nagtawag ng mga kasama," Domondon said.

The report said the eight scalpers bought the tickets at P350 each and tried to sell them for P4,500 to P6,000 each.

Domondon said the eight scalpers could be part of a big group.

All suspects were taken to the QCPD headquarters and charges are being prepared against them. —Rie Takumi/ALG, GMA News
