MRT3 train unloaded passengers due to ‘burning smell’
The Department of Transportation (DOTr) on Sunday said the Metro Rail Transit 3 (MRT3) train unloaded passengers between Ortigas and Santolan stations due a "burning smell."
In an earlier report by Super Radyo dzBB, train passengers were seen walking on the MRT3 tracks between the two stations.
The DOTr said the train unloaded passengers between the two stations at 2:47 p.m.. As of 4 p.m., the train system's operations has resumed with 12 trains running.
It said that according to the diagnostic panel of the train, regulator failure may have caused the burning smell coming from the train's motor.
The unloading of more than 600 passengers suspended the MRT3 operations for at least 26 minutes.
The DOTr said that after the passengers' evacuation, the train was removed "for defect analysis and repair." —report from Marlly Rome Bondoc/ALG, GMA News
