Manila's first firecracker victim was recorded a day before the DOH began its monitoring period and was the result of a piccolo, an illegal firecracker that causes the most firecracker-related injuries every year along with kwitis.
Health Undersecretary Dr. Gerald Bayugo said they will consolidate reports on firecracker injuries from December 25 to January 6, 2018 and release these statistics once completed.
