EAMC firecracker injuries climb to 27
The number of firecracker-related injuries recorded at the East Avenue Medical Center (EAMC) in Quezon City has climbed to 27 after three more people were rushed to the hospital early Tuesday bearing the wounds of a New Year’s celebration gone wrong.
A report by Allan Gatus on Unang Balita said a 22-year-old man was rushed to the hospital after he was hit in the eye by fountain fireworks. He remains under medical observation.
A 21-year-old man was also added to the list and had to be treated after a firecracker reportedly exploded on his arm.
An 11-year-old boy, meanwhile, had to be brought in after an injury involving the piccolo firecracker, which remains accessible to children despite being banned by the government.
At 27 cases so far, the number of firecracker-related injuries recorded at the EAMC is lower than the previous year’s 44.
