MMDA suspends number-coding due to strike that PISTON says it won’t mount
The Metro Manila Development Authority has suspended the implementation of the number-coding on Wednesday due to what it said was a transport strike.
Traffic Advisory:
— Official MMDA (@MMDA) January 23, 2018
To help commuters that might be affected by the transport strike, the UVVRP or number coding scheme is SUSPENDED tomorrow, Jan. 24, 2018 for ALL vehicles, public and private (except Makati and Las Piñas). #mmda
PISTON president George San Mateo, however, said that the transport group was not going on strike.
In Facebook posts, San Mateo said the group would hold marches in several parts of the country to protest the government's crackdown on dilapidated jeeps.
