Two injured as gas leak causes blast in QC resto


Two people were injured in a blast due to a gas leak in a restaurant in Quezon City on Monday.

According to a Balita Pilipinas report, the victims were a Hong Kong national who is the co-owner of the restaurant and a cashier of a drug store located in the basement of the building.

Police identified the Hong Kong national as Cheung Konkwan. He was brought to St. Luke's Medical Center for treatment.

Police said the gas explosion happened at around 8:50 a.m. at the Teddyman Restaurant inside Z Square Mall along Banawe Street.

A report on Dobol B sa News TV by Emil Sumangil said people were ordered to evacuate the mall located at the corner of Banawe Street and Del Monte Avenue, and the lobby has been cordoned off.

Firetrucks from the Bureau of Fire Protection's Masambong Fire Station were already at the area as of posting time.
